Questions people ask

If yours isn't here, ask. You'll get a plain answer.

I didn't track my miles. Can I still deduct them?

Usually, yes — if we can rebuild a log from real evidence: your recurring routes, calendar, app trip history, invoices with addresses, or odometer readings on repair receipts. The portal walks you through it. What we can't do is invent a round number. More on this.

I got paid in cash, Zelle, and Cash App. Do I have to report it?

Yes, all of it. Under-reporting income is the fastest route to a problem, and it also lowers what you can put in retirement or show a lender. We'll make sure the expenses that offset it are complete.

Do I need to be in Arizona?

No. We prepare and e-file federal and state returns for clients in every state. Everything happens through the portal and a phone or video call to review before filing.

What does it cost?

Individual returns start at $375. Returns with self-employment, gig, or 1099 income start at $475. Add-ons for extra states, rentals, or a second business are quoted in writing before we start. Full pricing.

How long does it take?

About five business days after every document is in, longer in early April. Refunds by direct deposit usually arrive within 21 days of IRS acceptance.

Is my information safe?

Your documents are stored encrypted, only you and your preparer can see them, every access is logged, and we follow the FTC Safeguards Rule and IRS Publication 4557 requirements for tax preparers. We never ask for your Social Security number by email or text.

Can you help if I get a letter from the IRS?

Yes. Every return we prepare comes with a complete file behind it, so responding is usually a matter of sending what we already have.

I haven't filed for a couple of years. Can you catch me up?

Yes. Prior-year returns are prepared the same way and quoted per year. Filing late returns before the IRS contacts you almost always goes better than the alternative.

I have an ITIN instead of a Social Security number.

We can prepare your return. If your ITIN has expired, we'll tell you and walk you through the renewal (Form W-7) — it has to be done before or with the return.

Can you file an extension?

Yes, at no charge. An extension gives you until October 15 to file, but any tax owed is still due April 15, so we'll estimate a payment to send with it.

What if I made a mistake on a return someone else prepared?

We prepare amended returns (Form 1040-X). Bring the return as filed and whatever was wrong or missing.

Do I need to send quarterly payments?

If you expect to owe $1,000 or more after withholding, yes. We set up the vouchers and amounts with your return. How estimates work.

Can I claim my boyfriend, girlfriend, or parent?

Sometimes. Someone who lived with you all year, earned under the IRS threshold, and got more than half their support from you may qualify as a dependent. The portal asks the questions that decide it.

Do you do business returns for LLCs?

Yes. Single-member LLCs file on Schedule C and fall under the self-employed plan. Partnerships and S-corporations are quoted after a short consult.
